In the nomination “The best full-length documentary film”: “On my own two feet”, directed by Olivier Louis Lambert (France) – For a cinematic representation of the strength of the spirit, capable of overcoming any difficulties and obstacles.
In the nomination “Best Short Feature Film”: “Vambora”, directed by Laurier Fourniau (France) – For an original depiction of mountains against the background of an ironic social story.
In the nomination “Best animated film”: Hoofs on Skates, directed by Ignas Meilūnas (Lithuania) – For a heartfelt and funny story that reminds us of the importance of friendship and mutual help.
In the nomination “Best short social film”: “The most beautiful corner in the world”, director Robo Mihaly (Slovakia) – For the courage to soberly look at the history of one’s own country and speak the truth about the present.
In the nomination “Best short documentary about sports”: “Mom is going back”, directed by Mikolaj Janik (Poland) – For the poignant story of maternal love, which can conquer mountains.
Two full-length films were awarded special mention by film critics. For the original story about the inconspicuous but important inhabitants of the mountains – “Lichens Are The Way”, directed by Ondřej Vavrechka (Czech Republic) and for reflecting the ecological, social and metaphysical dimensions of the Carpathian Forest, the film “Bartka” by the Ukrainian director Volodymyr Bakum.
Winners according to the results of the audience vote:
– full-length documentary competition: “Cupressus” directed by Mykola Nosok (Ukraine);
– short documentary competition: “What have we lost?”, director Marysya Nikityuk (Ukraine);
– short game competition: “My Girl”, directed by Caroline Ophelie (France);
– short animation competition: “Anteor”, directed by Patrice-Joseph Blanc (France).
During the festival, a collection for drones for the Armed Forces was held together with the Public Organization “MOVEMENT TO SUPPORT THE TRANSCARPATIAN MILITARY – UZHGOROD”. UAH 28,234 was collected in three days. This amount is 1 large 10 inch reusable drone fully equipped and will start working soon.
The Carpathian Mountain International Film Festival (CMIFF) is a film festival dedicated to the theme of mountains, ecology, sustainable tourism and preservation of mountain culture. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut in Ukraine.
